To achieve this, an X-/Y- vice should be clamped to the table to position the millwork and make it move across the face of the mill to finish the surface or to cut a furrow with light side force. However, you should take note that the drill press is less sturdy than a milling machine, so you have to cut only 5/1000 to 10/1000 inch at a time, cutting a keyway in a pole would be an excellent application of this.
